#RPGaDAY2025 DAY 25: CHALLENGE
#RPGaDAY2025 has reached its twenty-fifth day and the prompt for Day 25 is challenge. With the end of the event less than a week away, it can be a challenge to cross the metaphorical finish line, but this has been another good year for participants finding effective ways to keep posting as August makes its way toward September.
#RPGaDAY2025 DAY 24: REVEAL
This is the twenty-fourth day of #RPGaDAY2025 and today the prompt was leaked over a month ago now and has been impossible to keep out of the news ever since. Even on this very blog, where you might assume we might have total control over the content, the prompt was directly referred to. I guess the urge toward freedom by information is a true thing. If, however, your spoiler defense mechanisms are sufficiently trained to have missed all of this, then now you can safely discover today’s prompt. Are you ready?
#RPGaDAY2025 DAY 23: RECENT
This is the twenty-third day of #RPGaDAY2025 and today the prompt is recent. In our most recent prompt response, we looked at the word ally and examined it in terms of the villainous villains with their vile villainy, while also taking the time to praise the participants of this event who have been taking the time not just to compose their own responses, but share those of others, too. As we close in on the last week of RPGaDAY for 2025, I think that is worth pointing out at least twice.
#RPGaDAY2025 DAY 22: ALLY
This is the twenty-second day of #RPGaDAY2025 and today the prompt is ally. There are only 9 days left in this year’s event, after today. For me, it has gone quite quickly and I have enjoyed a lot of the posts I have found out there in the wilds of the Internet every day. It is hard to complete a 31-day challenge, but lots of people are doing it this year, Dear Reader. More importantly, I have been very pleased with how much sharing of other people’s posts has been going on. That is fantastic and in a real sense makes each participant the ally of the others in the key point of RPGaDAY: spreading positivity about the games we play.
#RPGaDAY2025 DAY 21: UNEXPECTED
This is the twenty-first day of #RPGaDAY2025 and today the prompt that leaps on us from surprise on the shelf is the word unexpected. The more experienced a group becomes, the less common it can be to encounter the unexpected. Often a group moves over time from a harmonious unity between character and player surprise toward a conscious handling of what the player knows versus what the character does. It can affect satisfaction. When we are planning pitch that we hope will lead to long-term, open-ended play, this is a detail we should consider.
