Blue Planet: Recontact – another return to Poseidon

I have written before of the amazing Blue Planet RPG, and each time that I have, and a few times when I haven’t, I have also mentioned the Blue Planet Curse which seems to have been laid upon me by some travel-wary troublemaker. The curse has never daunted nor dissuaded me. I have been completely free of both daunt and dissuadednessm, yet each time we start to play and intend to let play form a campaign – some terrible force changes all of reality so that play can no longer happen – for just this particular game. I think of it as quantum disentanglement.
Regardless of the past and its curses, there is a new Blue Planet and I am thrilled, full up on daunt, and devoid of dissuadedness.
Over the past year, those of us who backed Blue Planet: Recontact were given insight into the new edition section by section, then in an assembled pre-final PDF form. We have now, as of last week at time of writing, received the final PDF copies of the traditional two volumes that form the core of the game – the Players’ Guide and the Moderator’s Guide.
Each time I open it, I find something to get excited about.

This new version is more of a change than what we have seen in the past. it;s not a change from one system to another or a reorganization or recombination of existing material. This is an overhaul of everything to make it more of what it always was and expand it to include all that the years between its creation and now have brought to us in our real and fictional worlds. Not only that, Poseidon and its neighbors have been given color, scale, and cartographic splendor.
A new return to Poseidon, the titular blue planet, is in the works. Some of us backed it, others of us have pre-ordered it (You could, too!) – all of us are waiting with baited breath to see it in print. Like divers desperate for air, deep below the surface, we are pacing ourselves, rising with the bubbles, and waiting for that sweet rush of in-drawn breath and the scent of fresh book~

I downloaded the free look they had available…sometime ago. Banger setting. I liked it so much that it inspired my aquatic human empire in the 4X strategy computer game Stellaris!
The free look was my first look at the Blue Planet, I think because it hit in the period of my life (high school and first years of college) where I wasn’t really playing TTRPG’s or exploring new titles. I found the mechanics…interesting, though I prefer ‘meet or beat’ versus ‘at or lower than’ resolution systems when using typical check-style for resolution.
Thanks for shining a light on this, I was unaware it was up for preorder!
I hope you will let us know how you en up using it: there is so much to do on Poseidon~
