#RPGaDAY2023 Day 26

Around here, I imagine one of the things which stands out is the strong default setting of roleplaying games as an experience of character. To play an RPG is, in my view, to act upon, react to, and interact with an imagined world as a character living in it, governed by player decision and the influence of the game’s system.

As such, it seems reasonable that the character sheet would be extremely important.

Day 26: Favorite character sheet

In truth, though I have been pleased by the aesthetic design or efficient layout of character sheets from many games, what I really enjoy is to see how a regular player of a game chooses to express their character on a normal piece of paper.

What do they prioritize? What shorthand have they developed? Which system elements do they group together? Is it artistic or plain? Detailed or sparse?

Does it leave room for changes and is it made to be used for a long time, or is it disposable and regularly replaced?

These are the things I look for.

My favorite character sheets show wear and they show care. They are like lines on a loved ones face~
