#RPGaDAY2023 Day 25
Those of us with an offshoot hobby of reading RPGs we might not have an intention to play, or those who simply collect them, may find today’s prompt to be a bit daunting. The urge may present itself to make a complete accounting of all those games that have, so far, gone unplayed.
Such listing is not required! It’s a celebration of games and gaming that we are undertaking here, and while I ascribe to the notion that a shelf of unplayed games offers hope, not shame, it nonetheless feels like more of a challenge to offer a huge list of games than it does to focus on one or two that you are excited about. Right?
Day 25: An unplayed game that you own
One of the games that I am looking forward to running is Rivers of London. I am very fond of the novels, so it is motivating to explore that world in a different way. I am also a long-term enthusiast of BRP and I want to try this new version of it. Finally, I think the crew I regularly play with would offer a lot of hilarity, hijinx, and maybe even some hyperthaumaturgical degradation were we to play it.
One of the games that I am looking forward to playing a character in is SLA Industries 2nd Edition. I could be persuaded to try the S5S system as a player in one of its other settings, such as Terminator or Stokerverse, but it is SLA Industries that comes to mind first. I have run the original a fair bit, and the new edition briefly – but have never played a character of my own. There is a lot I would like to do on the rain-soaked streets of Mort~
Casting Shadows 
I went for a gander at my personal RPG shelf. What I’d love to play. A couple that popped out were Earthdawn and the World of Greyhawk.
The Earthdawn setting is what intrigues me, haven’t heard much about the game system either way. Like Morrow Project meets fantasy.
World of Greyhawk. Oh I’ve set plenty of modules in Greyhawk. But never really dived into the setting.
Reading the Castle Zagyg Castle Yggsburgh PDF (from the TLG preorder announced today)… What really shines through in the first couple dozen pages is Gary Gygax’s knowledge and love of High Middle Ages England: Ranks, Titles, Forms of Address, Dress, with a Gygaxian discussion of the decentralized feudal government in operation. I found it very stirring, brought me back to my days playing the original DMG.
Earthdawn is a curious one, isn’t it? I rather liked how in its early incarnations it tied into the history of Shadowrun, but we were oh so very busy with the World of Darkness, with Shadowrun, and with Mechwarrior/Battletech in those days we never got around to playing it.
