#RPGaDAY2023 Day 17

More than any other place in my life, except perhaps when the dogs are particularly rambunctious, laughter finds a home when we game. Today’s prompt is about humorous games, or games that are humorous, or games that are played humorously, or even humorous games played humorously.

#RPGaDAY2023 Day 17 Tell us of one of the FUNNIEST games you have played

Long ago, in a different century, when I read Paranoia for the first time, I found it particularly funny. Later, in this century, it was topped by an astronomical unit when I finally got to read the text of Ghostbusters. However, one thing that I suspected when I read Toon, before I read Paranoia, in an epoch where ice still covered the land, was that I would probably have more success encouraging humor than causing it. This is a lesson that would present itself to me doubly-so with horror. I did not find Toon particularly funny to read, and I went to sessions concerned that play would not be funny, but we seriously risked our health with how hard we laughed.

A few of the funniest games that I have been a part of are recorded and on YouTube. The oft-mentioned Pork Chop Express and the Convoy of Liberty stands out, as do several sessions of our ongoing All for One Campaign; Lights in Darkness. However, when I think of funniest games, I think I will share, without further comment, this introduction to our play of Broken Compass… Ravagers of the Frost Kings’ Tomb
