Autocratik‘s #RPGaDay returns in 2017 for a fourth run celebrating the roleplaying game hobby starting on Tuesday, August 1 and ending on Thursday, August 31. This has been an impressive year for roleplaying games, so we can rightfully expect a lot of fascinating responses to read, comment upon, and reshare.

This year’s theme continues our chromatic journey and moves into shades of gold for the infographic which contains the short versions of this year’s questions. Share it, post it with your responses, and pass it on to friends.  If you prefer, there is also a high-contrast version for extra visual clarity. Feel free to share that too!

Sometimes, people find that they cannot answer one of the daily questions. Do not worry. There are alternate questions listed further down this page, after the infographics. New alternates will be posted regularly throughout the month, if needed.

Translations!

We are very fortunate to have many different translations of the questions this year, exceeding the number for last year by a small margin, and that margin is still growing.

Currently available are English, German, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian. What will be next?

Alternate Questions?

Every once in a while, people find that they lack a required point of connection to a question and feel that they have no answer to share. In those cases, skipping a day could happen, but then that brings the concern that with the resulting loss of momentum, the fun of posting and sharing every day for 31 days will be lost. To address that concern, last year we introduced alternate questions and also took the time to share the questions in their original state with explanations. To fit the questions on the infographic can sometimes mean that the spirit of the question fails to register with some readers. The ease of sharing the questions via the infographic makes that risk worth it.

When in doubt about a question, think positively and share something you like about the hobby within the topic area of the question. If that isn’t possible, check out one of the alternate questions below. There are a few at first, but the list will grow slowly over the course of the month as tangential questions suggest themselves.

History of RPGaDay

In 2014, David F. Chapman, an RPG writer whose work can be seen in products from such publishers as Eden Studios, Cubicle 7, and Modiphius, got the idea to give people something positive to do about RPGs in the month of August, the month of GenCon. Not  all of us can visit that iconic gaming event, but we can participate in #RPGaDay wherever we are. With a positive spirit, a simple infographic to share the daily questions, and a little help from roleplaying gamers, #RPGaDay was born~
