Day 16: #RPGaDay 2018 – “Next”
Week 3: Describe Prompt 16: Describe your plans for your next game…
This prompt, viewed uncharitably as some still cannot seem to step away from, could suggest itself as a prompt just for GMs or to be just about those who play different games, and so on. It’s not. Viewed in the correct light, it is asking, ‘what are you going to do next?’ That might be your next session as a player, your next session as a GM, your group’s next game night with a GM-less game, the next game you purchase as an individual or as a group, the next campaign you hope to start after this one, the next iteration of the current game, etc. The options are quite broad and inclusive~
Vanishing Act
I had expected this post to be about Ars Magica as that grand old game was next on our slate to follow Star Trek Adventures… at some point. Yesterday, however, I put forward a pitch to take a breather from heavy campaign work and instead try our hand at a playtest of the revivification of early Champions by the recent Kickstarter run by Ron Edwards with the blessing of Hero Games. Called Champions Now, it is a celebration of everything that early Champions inspired in people looked at with the intent to preserve and enhance.
I have been in the mood to do something related to supers for over a year now, and this is an interesting opportunity to apply the bond this group has, and their grounding in the genre, to a project that will be both fun in its own right, but also provide intellectual stimulation as well when considering AP reports and reactions.
So…as a result of this timely change of plans – I have nothing much more to say other than at this moment, this is the plan and I am quite excited about it!
Tomorrow
In our third week, we are responding to prompts to ‘Describe.’ The prompt for Friday, Day 17 of #RPGaDay2018, is to describe the best compliment you have received while gaming. That’s a tough one~
YouTube
As has been my habit since the second year of #RPGaDay, I am also keeping pace with the prompts on video. The content of the videos and the blog overlaps, but is not exactly the same, and where the greater emphasis on detail resides varies from day to day.
#RPGADAY 2018
This is the third week of the fifth iteration of the monthly roleplaying gaming celebration launched by Autocratik for all forms of social media. Share your responses however you prefer to share. If you want to get involved, grab and share the infographic with the prompts and jump right in!
