#RPGaDAY2024 – Day 10: TV

For #RPGaDAY2024 the standard prompt asks us to imagine seeing a TV show based on an RPG. This has happened for real, of course. BattleTech, both skirmish game and RPG by that point, had a Saturday morning cartoon, and Vampire: the Masquerade – a runaway hit – led to the prime time, live action drama Kindred: the Embraced. If it were to happen again, we are asked by Day 10 to choose an RPG to be the source for a show.
What would I choose?
Well, honestly, my first instinct was Rivers of London, but that was just a knee-jerk response. While I would love to see that property well-handled in a live action drama, I have learned that I am more satisfied with settings translated to new types of media than I am with characters. As a result, I would love to see a series built around Blue Planet – particularly if it were to draw from the lavish new full-color edition due out later this year: Blue Planet – Recontact.

A dying Earth being left behind for a vibrant ocean world. Orbital factories and stations. Frontier Justice and Corporate Law. Conspiracy. Rebellion. Incredible Technology. But through it all? The quest for meaningful life at war with the quest for immortality.
Imagine what such a property could be in the right hands.
