#RPGaday2015 – Day 1: Most Anticipated RPG

RPGaday is here again, so I know it is August and I am not at GenCon. I am, however, having a succession of good years in gaming, so I am feeling fine. RPGaday, an idea put forward by the Autocratic blog, asks us to start talking to each other on a daily basis on whatever form of social media we prefer, on a list of daily topics about our hobby as RPG players. I like this idea.

Today is day 1 and it asks us to tell about the pending game we anticipate the most. This was not an easy thing for me to answer, but this is my attempt.

My first thought was of the amazing setting sourcebook called Leagues of Gothic Horror due at the end of the year by Triple Ace Games. I have been mentioning it a lot, so you know that it is very much on my mind. In this week alone I have had the preview copy I have spark several campaign ideas, each one yelling louder at me than the rest. It’s like a Motorhead convention. Still, I feel that full game is implied in the question, so a book like this may not be what is intended. Even so, this was my first though, and my second.

The full, new, game I anticipate most this year is hard to pin down as this year I have been primarily interested in looking at genres and settings for systems I already own and use. I might have said Blue Planet, but current plans for that game are to retreat to the V2 mechanics. I might have said Interstellar Operations, but that walks the wargame side of the Battletech line far more than the RPG side, so….

So….what? Well, I guess that will bring me back around to Ubiquity again – and for good reason. Quantum Black, a modern horror and conspiracy game is being kickstarted right now, and it has my attention for what it is attempting to reinvent and expand. What they are attempting will not be easy, but the game is written, and it has people excited. This marriage of my preferred genre with my preferred system has of course got my attention, and therefore… this is my most anticipated forthcoming game.

What’s yours?

  1. An Ubiquity game…. of course! I have not been following new RPG development for a while, so I’m not sure what I am looking forward to. A couple of my friends have some games on their radar but for now, our brains are focused on our D&D 5th game.

  2. Ubiquity? Staying from your comfort zone, my friend!

I know, you’d think an experimenter like me would be looking forward to something else. I guess the confluence of great Ubiquity products with the fact I have already received everything new and different has done me in for this question~

  3. My choice for this was the Revelation of Mars setting for Hollow Earth Expedition.
