#RPGaDAY2023 Day 15

Today’s RPGaDAY prompt for August 15th (Independence Day here in Korea!) could be asking us about a good time we had playing at a convention, or it could be asking about a published adventure good to use for convention gaming. It could also be asking about adventures we have enjoyed preparing for use at conventions. I have no experience with the first two that I am inspired to write about today, and I have already mentioned the third this month, so I am leaping for the prompt.

#RPGaDAY Day 15: Favorite Con Adventure (Module / One-shot)

The prompt today is asking us about our positive thoughts on the single-serving RPG experience, such as one finds in a 4-hour convention game time slot.

This is still tough for me to answer, as I am the sort who enjoys preparing for my own sessions, but I do have thoughts – particularly as over the last few years I have gotten to edit a few scenarios of several types and lengths.

Thought 1: I really like it when the scenario has been well play-tested and the author can include notes about the typical run-time, or at least how to expand or contract the runtime without sacrificing the desired experience or impact of the scenario.

Thought 2: I like it very much when there are both pre-generated characters and notes to guide chargen. Bonus points go out for tips on evaluating the suitability of pre-existing characters for the challenges presented by the scenario.
